Muskegon Tools' Piper products are cast from 8620 steel which contains nickel, chrome, and molybdenum as alloying elements.

After machining, the tools are carburized, quenched, and tempered to a Rockwell "C" level of 34-36.

The finished strength levels are:

               150,000 pounds per square inch     Tensile
               125,000 pounds per square inch     Yield
